I made this with a free pattern from the Alan Dart website. I think the pattern had a small mistake in it as my mouse wasnt as long as their pic. Still never mind, its not too bad. The pics rather fuzzy.

Is this a world record?
I have reached the stage where I am not sure if I am going to be able to get through all my stash before I die. By the last reckoning I had over 1000 balls of yarn waiting to be used up, add to that about 20 embroidery projects, numerous fleece for spinning, several silk items for painting, a loom I still need to learn to use, several yards of material to make into clothes, a patchwork quilt to finish, plus of course my cardmaking and a couple of rugs to complete etc and you will see why I am beggining to wonder if I perhaps may have accumluated too much, even for a craft fanatic? If anyone can beat this please let me know……….
Report on the effect of echinacea and propolis.
If you remember I said that I was going down with apparent flu just before Xmas and I was going to take propolis and echinacea. Rather amazingly I got better and wasnt ill over Xmas! In fact this is the first time I have been well when everyone else around me has been down with the flu. Its hardly a statistical analysis but still……my Xmas wasn’t ruined. With the recent cold snap I am hoping that the flu epidemic might abate and I may possibly have got away with it.
On the UFO front I finished my knitted jacket and am just trying to finish a freestyle embroidery of the bayeaux tapestry ( only a segement I hasten to add!) I have been doing some silk painting and that has distracted me.
On another type of UFO, I see that up north there have been reports of ‘strange lights in the sky’ followed by the news that a wind turbine has been damaged and some people are putting this down to a UFO crashing into it as there seems no logical explaination.
I do find it rather bizarre that any aliens can travel millions of miles of interplanatery space only to crash into a wind turbine?
It does seem somewhat prosaic…perhaps they had a learner driver.
The serious single sock situation shows signs of significant subsidence.
I have finally finished my second pair of socks this year and have found two extra single socks to make two pairs, so I am now the proud possessor of 4 pairs of socks! These are the Nuro socks finished. Now I have never made exact pairs but when I bought them I was told that if you start your second sock from the inside yarn you get an exact pair. You can see the result, not an exact pair but an exact opposite in terms of the flow of colours. Interesting! I enjoyed knitting them but woe is me, I have now bought 6 more lots of sock wool! Anyone following this blog knows that this is not the desired effect! My stash has grown yet again. I do believe I am in a situation where I may not live long enough to finish knitting all my wool….seriously! Meanwhile my hands are cold! I have started another pair of socks with some Alpaca yarn and a hat and muff set with some fur lookalike…..except I have now lost the pattern for the hat and muff!
I suppose it could be considered some sort of progress!
I think this number of the Noro yarn was 180. I have bought some 188. But at this rate I wont be doing it until next year. I have so many UFOs and cold hands! So the great glove issue has now arisen alongside the horrible hatless head situation……! Is there no end to my problems in life?

quiet colours, I thought......
The serious single sock situation continues
Well, I got as far as making one sock with Opal Zebra, and quite like it, but unfortunately I had to pick up my grand-daughter yesterday and while I was waiting my daughter suggested I looked in the local woolshop in her town. This is fatal. Despite having 6 suitcases of wool in my stash PLUS several black bag loads stuffed in the loft I came away with some sock wool.
This is Noro’s fairly new sock yarn. Er, I just couldnt resist it! Trouble is, I am in the severe sock shortage situation; in my sock bag today I found 4 lots of socks, 3 single socks and 1 pair! I was lying in bed wondering where my socks had gone to last night. Well, I now have ONE of the zebra socks completed, and the luxury of one warm foot! Perhaps I should report this to the Bureau of Missing Socks. This site is dedicated to the phenomena of single socks. I am not alone!
PS If you are from the UK or British I would be very grateful if you could sign my animal welfare petition on the Downing Street site. Its about the appalling treatment of animals in China. You can find it at
http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/chinacruelty/ and it doesnt take two ticks to sign.
Mad about craftwork of all kinds
I spend as much time as I can spare doing just about everykind of craft that you can think of, knitting, crochet, rug making, embroidery, and so on and so on. So if you like any of those things why not join me? My other passion is BORIS ( the wondercat) He has his own blog, but just to make sure you know who he is here is his profile.
8 years old, tragically struck down with Pancreatitus (aged 3!) which gave him diabetes, plus a cardiac murmur and funny kidneys. But he triumphed over it all. Heres his pic, isnt he wonderful?
